Woodworking with Scouts
  • Help, my scouts need a woodworking requirement for their next rank!
  • 8 year olds can use power tools, right?
  • But I’ve never cut a board in my life!
  • I don’t have a place where 6 kids can hammer at once.
  • Woodworking, isn’t that a “dad” thing?

If you’ve ever said any of the above then this site is for you. Woodworking with Scouts and other youth can be scary, but with a little help it can be fun and safe for the scouts and their leaders!

You don’t need a shop full of tools or years of experience to help your scouts do some amazing things. Their wooden creations won’t be fine art, but that’s not the point.  Every kid likes to build things out of wood, and with a little guidance on your part, woodworking can be a great outlet for their great imaginations.

What’s important is that they have fun, learn to use tools safely, and be recognized for doing their best.

In this web site you find some helpful tips for getting started, a good bit of shop safety, and age appropriate activities for scouts, plus a section on how to include scouts with special needs in your woodworking adventures.
